Forensic Linguistics is the analysis of written and spoken words used in any way within the context of criminal investigations, interrogations, and interviews, legal and judicial proceedings, threat assessments, and human resources information gathering and investigations. 

Examples of linguistic evidence that might be examined include the following: 

  • ransom notes

  • emails, text messages, business letters and memos

  • witness statements

  • civil and criminal interviews

  • suicide notes

  • trademarks and copyrights
